Everybody seems to love summer but for a girl who was born in a sunny country, well, it’s fine. I have had enough of the sun. I am screaming for the winter to come again. But for people who are really crazy for this season, I hope you have ideas and tips how to stay fit and healthy this summer so that you can also enjoy summer more properly.
Hopefully, you won’t just dive into the water and come out seconds later screaming, ‘’I am dehydrating!’’ Beach, sun, holidays…of course, that’s really an ideal scenario. But there are also summer disorders like heatstroke, allergies, sunburn, and Lyme disease from tick. Eww.
Like any other season, you need to be aware of these particular things and disorders and prepare for them this summer. For this reason, I come up with the idea of writing this post to give you tips in order to stay fit and healthy and enjoy this summer season more with your friends and family, in return, I expect you do these things.

DO THESE THINGS TO ENJOY SUMMER MORE
Water, water. You think that’s already too cliché and summer is too hot to handle already. Nope. Hydration is absolutely the key. Health experts and doctors say, we should drink 8 glasses or 2 Liters a day and that’s already a reasonable number. During this season, we are often on the road, moving and traveling, and we can’t pay much attention anymore to the tell-tale signs that we are suffering from dehydration.
How do we know that we need to take a gulp of water?
- when we’re already dizzy, confused and disoriented.
- when we feel powerless
- when we’re not even sweating
- when we feel hungry
These are the factors why we lose fluids in our body:
- Activities like travelling or exercise
- Environment or season like summer with hot or humid weather
- Health disorders like bladder infections or urinary tract infections
Keep hydrated and avoid too much exposure in the sun to avoid heatstroke in summer. Click here to know more what is Heatstroke.
When we’re on the road, a large bottle of water can be quite difficult to carry for us, for that reason an average size bottle is advisable that we can always carry everywhere we go like this one from Amazon.
• Proper Clothing
Bikinis and swimming trunks. Yes, but not all the time. If you’re on a beach, surely, you can wear them or be naked if you dare. If you are in the city, you can surely wear light dresses and clothes. One of my shopping portals for my summer outfits is Shein. The clothes are very affordable, and they have a wide range of selection.
If you have other ideas in mind this summer and you wanted to try other adventures like mountain climbing, make sure you have a proper outfit for this adventurous and thrilling activity. Since it is a peak season for ticks and other insect like mosquitoes, and they usually can be found in bushes and grasses, it is advisable not to attract these insects by showing off your skin. Ticks are the carrier of the bacterium called Borrelia which causes Lyme Disease or Lyme Borreliosis. To know more about this disease, visit this page.
Cats and dogs even attract ticks, and they are usually the innocent victims of these blood-sucking insects.
If you are out in the woods or bushes, make sure to show minimal skin or wear pants like this, light-colored which would be easier to avoid mosquitoes and ticks.
According to the estimation of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are about 300,000 people in the US who catch Lyme Disease each year. Thankfully, there are prevention and intervention precautions which we could use against acquiring this Lyme-born disease and one of the most common ones is the use of essential oils as repellent. Some of my favorite essential oils are lavender and peppermint from Young Living.
• Proper sanitation and hygiene
Like hydration, hygiene and proper sanitation are also important in this season. According to a 2017 report from the United States Department of Agriculture, rates of food-borne illness peak during the summer. Summer is the ideal season that bacteria grow faster in food products. If you are not sure, that you’re already affected with a food-borne illness but have these symptoms: vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, a fever, and headaches, it is advisable to go the nearest clinic to have it checked than spoil your holidays.
Water is one of the best solutions to implement good hygiene and proper sanitation, but if you’re always on the road and don’t have easy access to water (aside from your water bottle, but you need it more when you get thirsty), it is really advantageous to always have a hand sanitizer in your pocket. I advise it to be alcohol-free to avoid damage on your skin, like the one here on Amazon. This one has a fresh scent and applicable for people with sensitive skin.
When you’re at home, it is best to follow these rules to achieve a much healthier summer:
- Wash your hands before you touch food, before you cook and even during food preparation
- Wash your hands after visiting the toilet, handling pets and other stuff, which you think are soiled
- Keep kitchen clean, including all the surfaces and equipment used in cooking and preparing food
• Proper skin care
You can’t enjoy summer fully with worries on how you can take care of your skin. Thankfully there are products which will unburden you from constant worrying. Either you’re afraid to turn very brown (like me) or you’re protecting yourself from the damage to too much exposure in the sun, sunscreen products are the solution for that.
One of the best sunscreen products is the Kari Gran, it feels more like a moisturizer than a sunscreen. Moreover, it is organic and made of natural ingredients like avocado oil and plum seed oil.
Another best product for your skin care is Herbivore Pink Cloud, a rosewater moisturizer. Rosewater has a soothing effect on the skin with a hint an antioxidant boost. Additionally, this moisturizer is recommended for all skin types.
Summer could be the best among the seasons, especially if you are totally fit for the sun and the effects of the heat. Some of you know these tips already to stay fit and healthy this summer, but for some who don’t have enough knowledge, it could be quite challenging. Yet, if you follow and do these things above, you would enjoy summer more.
Well, are you ready to go out there now? Grab your bikinis, trunks, or your climbing outfit and gear. Don’t forget that your health is one of your best investments.
